LB "Little Bit"

"L.B." stands for Little Bit, a name we shortened as he outgrew it. He is our alpha male dolphin and the largest at our facility. His length is estimated at 11 feet and weight at 700lbs. L.B.'s eyes are partially closed, giving him an amorous appearance, and his success with female dolphins is paramount. His gentle demeanor has proven to be an asset in his newest role as a father to Julie. He is the first and only male dolphin at our facility to play a parent role in his calf's life from birth. L.B. shines as a suave, debonair, gentle giant at our facility. Although dolphins are not typically monogamous, L.B. seems to have found his soul mate in Dinghy.

Dolphins Plus and Dolphin Cove were deeply saddened to announce the loss of one of our founding dolphin family members, Little Bit (LB). Despite heroic efforts of the veterinary and animal care staff to combat a chronic liver issue, hemochromatosis, LB passed away on Friday, November 12, 2010. At an estimated 35 years of age, Little Bit lived a long life surrounded by his many offspring and soul mate, Ding-a-ling. LB gave us so much love, laughter and friendship and touched the hearts and lives of countless numbers of people. His personality and gentle spirit remain alive in our hearts and minds. We love you LB.
